LHSA Presents Gigi Stoll - New York City Spring Shoot 2016
New York acclaimed photographer Gigi Stoll, spoke at the 2016 LHSA Spring Shoot in New York City. During her presentation, she chronicled her photographic journey. Gigi was a former fashion model turned photographer and spoke about her experiences on both sides of the camera. As a model, she traveled the world and was "schooled" in photography by the photographers with whom she worked on location and in the studio. "An old friend gave me a Polaroid camera. I started shooting my model friends and taking portraits during my travels as a model. I went to a Tattoo Convention in Amsterdam to document a family of artists, The Leu Family Iron, and when I returned to NYC, one of the images ended up in an Upper East Side gallery. Then, Art Unlimited from Amsterdam approached me to print postcards worldwide. I continued showing in galleries and started selling my art to private collectors. What started as snapping Polaroids of friends quickly evolved into a second career shooting portraits for magazines and taking me to the far reaches of the world such as Morocco and Peru to shoot medical missions for children.
"Since retiring as a model, she turned her attention to photography and giving back through her photographic projects which include Mission India, Operation Kids, Shadow Series/Nudes and Lingerie and more. In this recorded session, Gigi discusses different cameras, formats, lighting and other aspects of her photography.
