The International Leica Society is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for members who want to improve their photography skills. There is no better way to expand your skills than to receive constructive, critical, and creative feedback from a master of the craft.
We are honored to announce Craig Semetko as the Fall 2019 portfolio review photographer. His work can be seen in his books Unposed and India Unposed, and at www.semetko.com. Craig is a regular instructor for Leica Akademie around the world and has become world renowned for his street photography.
As an LHSA member, you have the opportunity to submit your name to win a portfolio review. If you are not a member, sign up or renew now, and enter the drawing below.
The lucky entrant will be randomly chosen to work with Craig. The drawing will be open from August 1, 2019 to September 15, 2019.
If you are selected as the participant, you must submit your work by October 1, 2019. The selected photographer will be asked to submit 10-20 images that represent either a “best of” collection of your work or a specific project you wish to receive feedback on. Images must be submitted in .jpg format with file size of 5mb or less via an email address that will be provided.
After Craig has had an opportunity to review and critique your work you will have a one-hour portfolio review session with Craig on a mutually agreeable date and time via Zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting, etc. unless you are located in the same geographic area.
This opportunity is open to photographers of any level from novice to professional. Craig is a master teacher and enjoys helping photographers improve their technique and eye. Regardless of what level you are, Craig will work with you to critically look at your work from an outside perspective.
The drawing is random and is not based on a review of submitted photography. Images will be submitted following the drawing. But you must be a member in good standing of the International Leica Society. Watch for an announcement from LHSA with instructions for entry.
More on Craig Semetko:
Craig Semetko was one of 10 photographers chosen worldwide by Leica Camera to be a part of its “10×10” exhibition celebrating 100 years of Leica photography. He spent three months in the fall of 2013 traveling throughout India for the project and the resulting work was displayed at the grand opening of the new Leica headquarters in Wetzlar, Germany, in 2014. His second book, INDIA UNPOSED, was also born of this project and was published by StreetView Press in the spring of 2014.
In his foreword for Semetko’s first book, “UNPOSED,” Magnum Photos photographer Elliott Erwitt writes, “Good photographs are tough enough to shoot. Really funny ones are even harder. Good and funny photographs observed in nature not arranged or manipulated but simply observed in real time with amazing consistency, constitute a minor miracle now presented in Mr. Semetko’s book…In my book, he is the essential photographer. That is, the one who sees what others could not have seen.”
Good Luck! The winning entrant will be chosen at random and announced at the final dinner at the Boston annual meeting in October, 2019.
