North Rim of the Grand Canyon Workshop - August 3-6

  • North Rim of the Grand Canyon Workshop - August 3-6 Grand Canyon National Park North Rim AZ 86052, US USA (map)

Join Hal Kam from Camera West, along with Landscape Photographer Tom Brichta, and special guest, John Gavrillis, Sellers Publishing Company’s number one selling landscape photographer as they explore the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  John’s calendar, The Spirit of Place has been their best selling calendar for the past five years. Between our three instructors, you’ll have over ninety years of Landscape Photography Experience guiding you.

Our adventure begins on Friday, August 3 at 3:00 PM, and ends on Monday, August 6th. at noon.  Lodging which will be at the Frontier Cabins on the North Rim along with breakfast and dinner are included.

Unlike the South Rim, the North Rim does not attract as many visitors. Due to its remoteness, and higher elevation, ( A thousand feet higher than the South Rim), we will have our locations almost to ourselves. Along the 25 miles of the North Rim, we will be photographing the following areas.

Point Imperial. The view at Point Imperial, the highest in the park, embraces an area as vast as you’ll ever see. You’ll look far to the other side of the Colorado River into the Painted Desert, past Nankoweap Creek, with views of Mt. Hayden in the foreground. Sunrise at Point Imperial is a classic, one of the great sunrise views of the Colorado Plateau.

Cape Royal. It juts out deep into the vastness of the canyon, allowing you to photograph on all sides in the early morning or late afternoon. Right in front of you is Worton’s Throne and the Vishnu Temple, to the right is the Thor Temple and to the left is Apollo and Venus Temples, and far below us, the Colorado River.

This workshop is opened to all levels of photographers. However, you should know the basic controls of your camera, and be able to use it in manual mode also.
