Point Reyes National Seashore Workshop - June 11

  • Bovine Bakery 11315 CA-1 Point Reyes Station CA 94956, US USA (map)

Join us as we discover Point Reyes National Seashore with Hal and Tom, Monday, June 11.

Our day officially begins at 8:30 AM in front of Bovine Bakery in the town of Point Reyes.  Come early and grab some of the finest baked goods to start your day. From Bovine Bakery we will head to Drake’s Beach. During our visit to this location, you will learn how to get the silky look of the ocean as it breaks on the beach. We will also climb the bluffs to photograph the patterns of the waves breaking on the beach.

Around 11:00 A.M.we will return to the town of Point Reyes for lunch at Station House Cafe. After lunch, we will take time to photograph the town itself.

After photographing the town, we will head out to Pierce Ranch to photograph the old farm buildings and capture the fog as it moves in during the late afternoon hours. Along the way to the ranch, we’ll stop and photograph the diverse landscape of Point Reyes, including the Cypress Tree tunnel, which can be magical in the afternoon light and fog.

Point Reyes can be photographed both in color or black & white. We will see which works best for our day and mood of the land. Point Reyes can be very mysterious in the fog. No matter the weather we have the day of the workshop, the landscape will be inspiring.

Who should join us? All photographers that would like to photograph landscape, capture seascape images, and enjoy travel photography.

The following is a list of gear you should bring;

  • Camera

  • Tripod

  • Polarizing Filter

  • Graduated ND Filter

  • Solid ND Filter

  • Cable Release

How to Dress

We recommend that you dress in layers since it could be cold and windy along the water, and warm as we work inland. Light hiking boots for the most part will be sufficient, however, you may bring Hunter style boots for working along the beaches.

We hope you can join us on our visit to Point Reyes!
