Leica Akademie USA and fine art photographer and director Mark de Paola present an exclusive three-day workshop in New York City the weekend of March 3rd- 5th, 2017.
Building on the success of Mark’s “Photography Wide Open” one-day workshops, this event provides the opportunity to experience the creative process Mark goes through when creating stills and video for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. The streets of New York will provide our backdrop for this real world, fashion assignment with Mark de Paola and world-renowned creative director and hairstylist Jon Reyman. This shooting intensive masters workshop is designed for creative photographers interested in stretching their imagination and expanding the traditional definition of fashion photography and portraiture. Going beyond simply talking about the elements or theories behind a successful fashion image, this program will take you “On-Location” to learn, first hand, what it takes to connect with a model and create signature images for your portfolio. Mark’s career delivering projects for clients ranging from Vogue covers to Gucci campaigns and fine art photographic exhibitions will provide the foundation for the class. Mark’s vast and comprehensive experience with Leica cameras and optics, especially the 50mm Noctilux, will serve as a point of inspiration during a weekend ofin depth discussions, practical exercises and portfolio reviews, culminating with the a review of your images on our final day.
Whether you are currently a working pro or a dedicated novice with an interest in creative fashion/beauty portrait photography you will gain much from this experience.

What do I need to know before taking this class?
Students are expected to have a basic understanding of photography terminology, focusing and exposure techniques. Laptops are encouraged, but not required to help facilitate downloading and critiques on the final day of the workshop. You are not required to own a Leica camera to attend this event. A full selection of the latest Leica M Rangefinders, M lenses, and the S-system will be available for your use.
