August 18th – 20th 2017 – Join the Leica Akademie in Seattle for a Street Photography weekend with photographer Nicholas Pinto!Designed to provide inspiration to both experienced and up and coming photographers, this program provides the opportunity to receive hands-on critical feedback, both in the classroom and on the street.Leica M cameras have been synonymous with classic street photography ever since the first Leica M was brought forth in 1954, this program continues the tradition, focusing on the essence of both the technical aspects and the creative approaches to Street Photography.The weekend format will kick off with an evening lecture on Friday night and the chance to check out Leica gear for the entire workshop. Saturday will include both morning and afternoon shooting sessions, concluding with a review of the images made. Sunday the group with come together to review the pictures taken, as well as a group critique.Topics covered include:

  • The role of mindfulness in Street Photography

  • Approaches to photographing strangers

  • Focusing quickly

  • Telling a story in a single image

  • Developing long term projects

  • Moving from inspiration to finding your own style.

  • Strategies for editing.

About the instructor

Nicholas Pinto is an Italian-American photographer with an eye for the moments found in everyday life. Born and raised on the Southwest Side of Chicago, Illinois. After serving in the United States Army, he picked up a camera as a way to express himself. This unique background has given him a rare view of the people and places found in front of his lens.“”HE CAPTURES THESE MOVEMENTS WITH A MASTERFUL EYE AND A KEEN AWARENESS OF THE SURREAL ASPECTS OF ORDINARY REALITY“”— LEICA BLOGA graduate of Columbia College, Pinto currently resides in Chicago with his wife and two sons. WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

If you have ever been curious as to what it takes to make great pictures in the street and want to explore these techniques and get feedback on your photography, than this is the program for you.

Participants should be prepared to try new techniques and get out of their “comfort zone” or established way of shooting.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

Working knowledge of your camera and interest in Street Photography. You are not required to use or own a Leica camera to attend the program. Leica M and Monochrom cameras will be available during the workshop,

SPECIAL NOTES:

Enrollment  is limited to 10 participants.

MEALS:

A catered lunch, on the final day of the workshop, is included in your fee. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions, when you register.
