2:30 – 3:30 PM Self-Assignments: Avoiding Clichés, Keeping Your Photography Fresh with David Spielman
We all find ourselves without inspiration and drive from time to time when nothing seems to be visually stimulating. So how do we stay engaged with our passion, photography? Mark Twain said that he didn’t write his books and stories. The stories found him, and he was how they were penned and put into print. The pictures and images are like Twain’s writings. They are out there for anyone to see and photograph. It is up to us to go out and find and capture them uniquely.
We carry our gear, cameras, lens, filters and so on in a bag. We also need to have a bag or journal of ideas, self-assignments, thoughts and ideas that we can return to or expand on wherever we are. No matter the time of day or weather conditions we have visual projects that are there in front of us, waiting.
