9:00 – 10:15 AM: Photography – Technology through the Ages- Peter Karbe, Leica AG
Peter Karbe, head of optical engineering and legendary designer of Leica optics, will discuss photography starting from the Pinhole Camera to the Mobile Phone Camera and what could come next. It promises to be a very personal look at the development history of photography and what role does Leica Photography play in this context.

11 AM -11:45 AM: The Leica Landscape Photograph with Philip Blair
Pacific Northwest-based Leica Akademie Instructor Philip Blair will share his unique perspectives on landscape photography, highlighting images and experiences covered in his upcoming book: “Solitude: Snow and Ice."
11:45 – 12:30 PM: What it takes to develop your photographic potential- with Sandra Eisert
Sandra Eisert, White House picture editor to three previous U.S. presidents, will discuss what it takes to move beyond snapping photos and sharing on social media to curating your photographic portfolio. Many photographers aspire to make books or having a gallery show; Eisert will share her insights into the discipline and purpose-driven aspects of creating a photographic narrative and help bring your work to a new level.

8:00 AM: Opening Remarks
8:15 - 9:00 AM: Beyond Resolution with the Leica M10-R with Antonio De Benedetto, Leica USA
See what makes the new Leica M10-R so special, beyond just its resolution and megapixel count. Product Specialist Antonio Di Benedetto will guide you through some images he has been creating with the M10-R and walk you through the amazing color quality and dynamic range, with both vintage and state-of-the-art modern lenses. Antonio will reserve time at the end for plenty of audience Q&A.
9 – 9:45 AM: Shooting Historic Leica Cameras with Richard Chalfan
Richard Chalfan, LHSA’s “Ask the Expert” on using historic Leica cameras, will discuss the intricacies of shooting with (mostly early) Leica cameras. The presentation will discuss using the Leica A, B, D, OLEYO and the III series cameras as well as shooting Infrared with the M8.
9:45 AM – 10:30 AM: A Leica Storywith John Kreidler, Leica USA
John Kreidler, East Coast Product Specialist with Leica USA, will feature photography from the S and SL2 camera systems. He will show the capabilities of these cameras, how they achieve the Leica Look and describe how they each have a place in developing your visual signature.
10:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Photo Assignment - with Sandra Eisert and Tom Smith
Three weeks prior to the conference, registered attendees will be invited to photograph and submit one image based on a general topic. Submission is due one week prior to the conference. During this session, Sandra Eisert, three-time White House picture editor and Tom Smith, director of the Leica Akademie, will comment on these pictures and make helpful suggestions that will benefit all photographers.
12:30 PM: Introduction to Grant Winner, Random Drawing for Prizes, and Closing Remarks
