Tom Brichta and Camera West have teamed up to create a series of workshops in Yosemite National Park during some of the most beautiful seasons of the year.
Our first workshop is in February. Winter is one of the most beautiful times of year in the park. The landscape and trees are covered in snow, and there are fewer people in the park.
We come back to Yosemite the first week of November for fall color. This is usually the week of peak color in Yosemite. The air is cool and crisp, and there’s the possibility of a brief snowfall.
These workshops are more geared towards the experience of being in Yosemite during these beautiful seasons, and the camaraderie of likeminded landscape photographers. Your leaders, Tom Brichta and Hal Kam have over 50 years of experience between them photographing this magnificent National Park. They will guide you to some of their favorite locations, along with some of the iconic images you see in publications and on the internet.
All levels of experienced photographers are welcome on these trips. However, we do ask that you are familiar with your camera, and are able to use it in the manual mode. Tom and Hal will be in the field with you to help with composition and exposure.
Accommodations and dinners are include in the fee of this workshop, and a parting breakfast at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, formerly The Ahwahnee Hotel. Transportation is not included to and from the workshop, and we encourage the participants to carpool during our sessions. Our schedule and locations are subject to change as the weather and lighting conditions dictate.
Gear and clothing to bring; it’s advisable to dress in layers for all three workshops, mornings can be very cold, and afternoons warm. We will be working between 3500’ and 8000’ during our workshops. We suggest that you are in moderate physical shape, there is a bit of light walking. During the February workshop, we suggest you bring waterproof insulated boots. The Spring and Fall workshops, moderate hiking boots will be fine.
Please bring the following photo gear;
