Welcome to Carnaval in Barranquilla! Momenta proudly invites you to one of the most exciting workshops we have ever hosted.
“Quien lo vive es quien lo goza!” translated means, “Those who live it are those who enjoy it!” This is the saying of Carnaval in Colombia. During Carnaval, you are not just there to document the festivities but you are a cherished guest of the host city. Carnaval allows your full immersion in the pagantry and magic that surroudn . You are a participant, storyteller, dancer, model, and so much more.
This is your Carnaval. During this beautiful festival, the entire city has but one purpose: celebration. For four days, the city will be electric. How will you choose to explore it with your camera? On every block, you can find revelers outside their homes. On the Via 40, prestigious dance groups and floats perform for the crowds. Perhaps you’d prefer to lounge during the day and prepare for the night.
There are countless cultural events ranging from comedy to live music all offered for the crowd’s enjoyment. Our goal is to give you the access to experience Carnaval however you’d prefer, with us as your guides. We will end our week with the beautiful, solemn celebration of Ash Wednesday as the city prepares for Lent in quiet reflection at cathedrals across the city.
