2020 Spring Shoot Speakers
Anja Bruehling is a documentary photographer. She grew up in Germany and partly South Africa and now resides in Chicago. She has worked and traveled in over 70 countries. As a photographer she is documenting people, diverse cultures, social issues, and the human condition around the world. She sees the camera as a medium to stay curious more than ever and to make observations, explore places, prosperity, beauty, people, and the socio-economic problems they face.
Anja's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has been published in PDN, Lenscratch, SDN, American Photography amongst others. Her work has been included in Critical Mass, American Photography, Julia Margaret Cameron Award, and the International Photography Awards to name a few.
Andrew Piper: Born in Vermont, and raised in California and Illinois, I've been travelling the USA from the age of 6 months. I've worked in Denver since 1993.
My life has beendevoted to photography since high school, where I was handed a plastic Dianacamera for a basic art class. I earned a BS in Cinema and Photography fromSouthern Illinois University, and an MA in Visual Communications from OhioUniversity.
I've been a medicalphotographer, a photojournalist, a picture editor and graphic designer since1979, working in Chicago, Knoxville, Memphis, Indianapolis, Puerto Rico, andColorado.
Since 2009, I have published my own award-winning on-line photo magazine covering Colorado, and since 2017 I have sold prints from the magazine through the Denver Art Society gallery.
Greer Rising settled in Colorado Springs after living and working abroad most of his life. His career with the U.S. government took him to the borders of Afghanistan and Syria as well as Central and South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Central America. Greer received his first Leica from his grandfather, who picked it up in Germany in 1946. Greer’s photos focus on people in their environments, and he has had several shows in his native Alaska.
